Hello, my name is Christine Castleberry. This is my 10th year teaching 2nd grade after teaching Pre-K for three years. I graduated from Indiana University Southeast with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a Special Education endorsement in Learning Disabilities. After teaching Special Education for three years, I chose to stay at home and raise my children. Throughout my time at home, I kept actively involved with education by providing individual tutoring for students of all ages and still continue to tutor after school and in the summer.

I have been married to my wonderful husband, Dave, for 24 years!!! We are active members of the Our Lady Community. We have three fabulous children who keep us very busy with all their activities. JD is in his last year at U of L studying engineering at the Speed School. Lauren is a freshman at the University of Kentucky and plans to become a nurse. Caroline is a freshman at Providence. She enjoys playing basketball and working at Zesto. All three children continue to impress us with their work ethic and excellent study habits.

Second grade is a very exciting year as the children prepare for and receive the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion. As a “cradle Catholic”, I have had a lifetime to deepen my faith and it is a blessing to work in an environment where I can share my faith and help deepen the faith of others. In my years as an Our Lady Parishioner, I have been very impressed with all of the programs the church has to offer to meet the needs of all parishioners such as Week One. Our Lady is truly a remarkable church and school. I am proud to call it my “home” and I feel very blessed to be a part of such a wonderful community.

In years past, I have used “flexible seating” in my classroom. My plan is to continue that practice as much as possible while staying within our ever changing guidelines. Children may have the opportunity to use a yoga ball or mat, an air cushion, a bean bag, wobble seat, or a standing desk. I will also be doing Guided Reading and small Math groups, which allows each student to work on their level and be challenged or supported appropriately.

In my free-time, I like to read, exercise, and watch sports.  I also enjoy spending quality time with my family here as well as with my family in Nebraska.
