I’m Laura Bergstrom—otherwise known as Dr. B. I'm thrilled to join the middle school this year, teaching 5th/6th grade Social Studies and Religion. This is my third year teaching at OLPH, and I have 6 years of elementary teaching experience. Prior to that, I’ve been a teaching assistant for the 3rd and 4th grades as well as a maternity leave substitute teacher in 5th grade. I earned my bachelor’s in education from St. Mary-of-the-Woods College, master’s degree from Indiana State University in history, and a Ph.D. in history from Purdue University. Boiler up! In my past career life, I taught college history courses for over 13 years and also served as the department chair of the Humanities/Social & Behavioral Sciences at Ivy Tech Community College.

My husband and I have been married for 24 years, and our daughter Olivia just graduated from OLPH. We have a full household that we share with 3 cats and a dog. I’m an OLPH parishioner and volunteer for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. In my free time, I enjoy reading, playing games, camping, traveling, and going to parks and historic sites with my family.

I’m looking forward to an amazing year!
