Hi! My name is Krissy Van Laan, and I teach 5th and 6th grade English Language Arts at OLPH. I was born and raised in New Albany and am a proud product of Catholic education, having attended Catholic schools from kindergarten through 12th grade.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in English from Ball State University and my Master of Arts in Teaching from Bellarmine University. Before coming to OLPH, I taught English Language Arts at the high school level at several schools, most recently at Our Lady of Providence High School. Teaching has always been much more than a career to me—it truly feels like my calling. I love helping students grow as readers, writers, thinkers, and, most importantly, as people.

OLPH is especially meaningful to me because it is not only where I teach, but also where my family has found its home. My husband, Tim, and I have three children—Stanley, Adeline, and Rose—all of whom attend OLPH. I feel incredibly fortunate to experience this community as both a teacher and a parent.

I love the faith, families, friendships, and sense of community that make OLPH such a special place. There truly is no place like OLPH!

When I’m not at school, you can usually find our family at a ball field, cheering on our kids, spending time with family and friends, or planning our next adventure together.
