After weeks of dialogue, our Connected in the Spirit cohort has prepared a suggestion which will be submitted to the Archdiocesan Planning Commission on how our parishes—Holy Family, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, St. Anthony of Padua, and St. Mary of the Annunciation—might work together in the future. Our conversations, based upon a careful consideration of our parish evaluations, including our respective strengths and challenges, have led us to discern that a “Partnership Model” would enhance our experience of faith and community here in Southern Indiana. That means, essentially, that we will be more deliberate in finding ways to collaborate so as to conserve resources, strengthen and enhance ministry, expand our outreach, and provide more opportunities to deepen our faith and relationships. The Archdiocesan Planning Commission will consider our work and make a preliminary recommendation back to us by the end of June. At that time, we will be asked to respond to their recommendation by September 12. From there, the Planning Commission will present their final recommendations to Archbishop Tobin for consideration and review. We look forward to implementing our model beginning next year. We will share the Archdiocesan recommendation with you as soon as it becomes available and will keep you advised of our conversations as we continue to develop our vision for the future. We are excited to embark upon this next phase of planning, recognizing that we are not only Connected in the Spirit but likewise in body as “we must grow up in every way into Him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by every ligament with which it is equipped , as each part is working properly, promotes the body’s growth in building itself up in love.” Ephesians 4:15
